Beginner Information

Beginner archers need to be aged 10 years or older and have reasonable shoulder movement.  A minor under the age of 15 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while on club grounds.

Beginner’s Class’s are designed to expand on  the fundamentals of target archery. This class provides greater detail in shooting techniques and covers a broad range of archery practices, regulations and shooting styles. Completing the Come and Try session is a pre-requisite for the beginners class.

The two day Beginners Class runs from 9:00am to approximately 11pm, on consecutive Saturday mornings, 2 or three times per year.  Please see the club calendar for dates.

Our coaches are nationally accredited and have the knowledge and expertise to teach you the basic skills you need for shooting at club level.  Throughout the class our coaches will be on hand to assist you and answer your questions.  You will also have the opportunity to try a few different styles of archery.

Shooting Location: Warwick Senior High School oval. Enter from Erindale Road through what is normally the exit lane of the main car park (opposite the Eddington Road intersection).  http://www.aofg.archerywa.com.au/location/

Archery safety is paramount to us. We will teach you how to be safe at archery. Here are a few things to wear on your first day of your beginner’s training class.

  • Wear closed in shoes
  • Wear a top that does not flap around
  • Wear a hat and sunscreen
  • Tie back long loose hair
  • No loose strings or lacing (hoodies)

Do not let a disability stop you from trying archery.  It is recommended to talk to our club president or to our head coach about how your disability affects you before your first day.  If you find that sports where you run around are not for you, then archery may suit you.

If the weather forecast for the Classes is unsuitable, thunder and lightning and or heavy rain, we will endeavor to contact you on the Friday evening. Please use the club contact details on the website if you have concerns or need to cancel.
