The Archers of Greenwood offers ongoing training to people of various ages and abilities.

AOG runs  “Come and Try” sessions which are scheduled to meet demand and are run a week or 2 before the beginner classes. Please check the Club Calendar. The sessions start at 08:30am and finish at 10:00am. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early as there is some paperwork to complete and we need to fit you for a club bow and arrows. Please include the following details with your enquiry:

  • The name of the person who will be shooting
  • The age and height of the person who will be shooting
  • Whether the person shooting is left or right handed.

This information speeds the set up process up significantly and avoids disappointment if equipment is not available. Cost is – Adult (16 and over) – $25 and child (15 and under) – $20

Beginner archers need to be aged 10 years or older and have reasonable shoulder movement.  A minor under the age of 15 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while on club grounds.

We also run a  Beginner’s Class which is designed to expand on  the fundamentals of target archery. This class provides greater detail in shooting techniques and covers a broad range of archery practices, regulations and shooting styles. Completing the Come and Try session is a pre-requisite for the beginners class.

The one day Beginners Class runs from 8:30am to approximately 12pm, on a Saturday morning, 2 or three times per year.  Please see the club calendar for dates.

Our coaches are nationally accredited and have the knowledge and expertise to teach you the basic skills you need for shooting at club level.  Throughout the class our coaches will be on hand to assist you and answer your questions.  You will also have the opportunity to try a few different styles of archery.

Shooting Location: Warwick Senior High School oval. Enter from Erindale Road through what is normally the exit lane of the main car park (opposite the Eddington Road intersection).  http://www.aofg.archerywa.com.au/location/

Archery safety is paramount to us. We will teach you how to be safe at archery. Here are a few things to wear on your first day of your beginner’s training class.

  • Wear closed in shoes
  • Wear a top that does not flap around
  • Wear a hat and sunscreen
  • Tie back long loose hair
  • No loose strings or lacing (hoodies)

Do not let a disability stop you from trying archery.  It is recommended to talk to our club president or to our head coach about how your disability affects you before your first day.  If you find that sports where you run around are not for you, then archery may suit you.

If the weather forecast for the Classes is unsuitable, thunder and lightning and or heavy rain, we will endeavor to contact you on the Friday evening. Please use the club contact details on the website if you have concerns or need to cancel.

Cost: This is a single session beginner class and costs $40.00 which is to be paid on the day.  The fee covers tuition, insurance, the use of club equipment . Family Discounts are available.

The club is registered with KidSport for those who qualify (up to 18 years with a Health Care Card).  Further information is available online at:
https://www.dsr.wa.gov.au/funding/individuals/kidsport

Please send your expression of interest to the club president using the form on this page.  You are also welcome to come along on a Saturday morning to have a chat and see what we do.
